Onar®MRSA - Screen
Methicillin-resistant S. aureus for real-time PCR
The Onar®MRSA Screen is an in vitro test for quantitative and rapid PCR-based detection of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in clinical samples. Onar®MRSA Screen is a CE-marked IVD and approved for in vitro clinical diagnostics. The test system has undergone extensive programs. We highly recommend our reliable hot-start MB Taq DNA Polymerase and our our Swab DNA Extraction Kit for optimal Onar®MRSA Screen performance and most sensitive results.

Fig. A: Target MRSA Amplified curves showing quantification of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus using different quantitives of template DNA (5x101 to 5x 105 copies). As a negative control, the template DNA was replaced with PCR-grade water. The fluorescence channel was set it F1. | ![]() |
Fig. B: Internal Control Signals generated by the amplification of the internal control in channel F2. No signals indicate inhibition of the PCR by the sample material. |
Background
MRSA is a specific strain of the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium that has developed antibiotic resistance to all penicillins, including methicillin and narrow-spectrum β-lactamase-resistant penicillin antibiotics. MRSA can infect other tissues when normal barriers have been breached (e.g. skin). This leads to furuncles, heavy infections and can lead to a sepsis. The Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is described as a trigger for typical hospital related infections.
