You can order copies of the Glen catalogue from Cambio or go to the Glen Research webite. For the entire range see www.glenres.com.
Cambio has been the UK and Ireland's distributor of Glen Research products for well over ten years. Glen offers the widest range of products for DNA and RNA synthesis in the world. Their products suit every machine and they are formulated, filtered and packaged under optimal conditions to ensure the best performance.
Sterling CE phosphoramidites
Not only do these Glen products come with full Certificates of Analysis and HPLC traces showing the results of extensive QC testing but also each batch is synthesis tested to give optimal performance. This service is virtually unique in our business.
Support Columns
All Glen supports use the standard lcaa linkers and are available in several different pore sizes (500Å, 1000Å, 2000Å). The latter is for the synthesis of 150mers. New additions to CPG derivatives include Universal Supports which make many new applications possible as well as Q supports which ensure rapid cleavage (2 min) of the product. Universal Q has to be the best support yet.
Sterling Solvents and Liquid Reagents
Prepared to exacting standards, all solvents are passed through 0.2µ filters and are available for virtually any synthesiser. Special packaging is available for the following machines: ABI, Beckman, Biosearch, Expedite, MerMade, Milligen, Pharmacia, and PolyPlex instruments.
Cambio, with Glen's help, will be pleased to arrange special, standing or bulk orders. Please call us and we will be happy to tailor a quotation to meet your individual needs.
The Glen Research Catalogue is divided into several sections:
Backbone modifications
Apart from the Methyl and H phosphonate amidites and sulphurising reagents, Glen offers 5'-amidites for making 5'-5' and 3'-3' linkages.
Minor bases
Modification of duplex stability whether for adjusting the binding of PCR primers or introducing degeneracy has reached a level of sophistication hardly dreamt of ten years ago. This section is well worth reading. There is even an a basic monomer on offer. The recent introduction of chain terminator amidites, sulphur deriviatives for photo crosslinking and numerous halogenated bases make this section extremely comprehensive.
Modification and labelling
There are now 24 pages of novel amidites and CPGs including aminomodifiers (note the new photocleavable range), sequence modifiers, reagents to add amino, thiol or carboxyl groups anywhere in an oligo sequence. These days you can add phosphoryl groups, multiply the number of branches, add spacers or even make oligonucleotide-peptide conjugates. Biotin with spacers of every persuasion has always been a specialisation at Glen, and the new photocleavable biotin reagent opens up a whole new field of possibilities. Hydrophilic spacers have been well understood by Glen for years, and they continue to offer the best range of products in this area.
RNA and 2'-OMe RNA
TOM protected RNA synthesis has enjoyed a revival of late with the advent of siRNA research. Glen offer an extensive range of minor RNA bases, supports as well as 2'-OMe derivatives. Nucleoside Analogue Interference Mapping has led to the need for a-thio triphosphates. There are 18 products in this range on offer.
Purification cartridges
Many researchers like to purify oligos themselves. Polypak cartridges and the reagents needed for successful reverse phase purification offer an inexpensive way of achieving this.
Affinity supports
Oligonucleotides make excellent affinity ligands. Affinity chromatographers have searched for years to come up with the perfect support, and Glen may well have created it. Look for the Oligo-Affinity supports made of either PS or CPG.
Of course, if only some of the above makes sense and you want more info, please call us at Cambio (See our Contact Us Form) or email either or support@glenres.com
