The Ames MPF E.coli Combo Assay comprises the tryptophan auxotrophic tester strains E.coli wp2 [pKM101] and E.coli wp2 uvrA for detecting AT base-pair mutations at the primary reversion site as well as all media required to perform the assay. Kits including additional S9 and Positive Controls are also available. E.coli wp2 strains detect certain oxidizing mutagens, cross-linking agents and hydrazines. The two strains have different sensitivities towards different mutagens. When combined in a given ratio for exposure, they detect a broader range of mutagens than the single strains alone .
